Filtering & Sorting

clearLogs.jpg

Concept

Filtering and sorting are core functionalities of the converter, but they require a certain level of cooperation from the user. The reason is simple: CSV files are text files, and there are few reliable indicators to identify columns. In the best case (though not always), a CSV file has header information in the first line, but this is also pure text, and the field content (dates, numbers, text) cannot be determined.

For this reason, the user must specify which column should be used to filter the list alphabetically and in ascending order. To do this, the letter of the column (following Excel logic) can be entered into the field, or the correct column can be selected using the search function.

The selection can be quickly deleted via the trash bin icon.

The COL label is showing the selected column in number format (1 = A, 2 = B, etc.).
